Dining is, and always was, a great artistic opportunity. - Frank Lloyd Wright

Welcome to our blog! We're a group of friends who love to celebrate life, have a great laugh, and enjoy a good meal with a great beverage. We all have such a good time together, that it seems we tend to get a little boisterous and rowdy. We're a lot of fun, surely favored by servers for our casual attitude, witty banter, and generous tips. But inevitably, our conversations get to a point where one of us proclaims "another place that's going to post our picture on a sign that reads "Don't Let These People In!""

We hope you enjoy our adventures in culinary cuisine, dining with us through our words and pictures, sharing with you our experiences in Central Florida's edible delights. We'll provide you our thoughts on these establishments, from the quality and choice of food, the service we receive, and how fitting they are with our rowdy crowd. Bon appétit!

Not Such a Sunny Day at Sonny's of Apopka

It's Wednesday night and we're all starving. Bill's craving barbecue, so we hop in the Suburban and head to Sonny's. We roll in at 8:30pm and the parking lot is fairly empty. We figure it should be an enjoyable dinner. We walk in and wait by the hostess table. And wait. And wait. And wait.

Apparently the hostess, manager, cashier and wait staff were too busy to greet the new customers because they were focused on taking care of those already disappointed by their service. It was so ridiculous how we were blatantly ignored that we found ourselves roaring with laughter. So much for service, we thought, but it was late enough and we had barbecue on the mind. We figured it couldn't get much worse. Famous last words.

After waiting about 10 minutes to be acknowledged (mind you, there was a cashier/bartender staring at us the whole time), we were sat in an area with a very rushed server. After listening to the buzz around us, we deduced that there were some challenges in the kitchen and we came at a bad time. In the wait to place our order, we decided to entertain ourselves. After discussing the merits of the recent changes in Child Safety Seat laws (see Bill above acting out the 12 year old in a booster seat), we were finally able to place our order. All-You-Can-East chicken and ribs for Ben, ribs for Bill, and grilled chicken for Annie.

Left to our own devices, we continued to entertain ourselves. An iPhone, silly behavior, and a few crazy photos later, our food came. It was decent and pretty much what we have come to expect from Sonny's. Non-descript, decent barbecue at a reasonable price. Service aside, the meal was okay. However, the service overall was so poor that the meal was disappointing.

Would we recommend Sonny's? Overall, yes. But definitely not the Apopka Sonny's and definitely not on a busy or rough night. It's not likely one that we'll be returning to again in the near future.

All Hail Ale House!

It's the first Friday in March, and we decide to break bread (re: eat, drink, and be merry) at the West Colonial Ale House. Despite their packed parking lot and full house, we were sat almost immediately and welcomed to our table by a bubbly, adorable server named Brianne. Brianne got straight to the point with us, asking what we would like to drink (a girl after our own hearts!). She was intuitive, seemingly reading our indecisive minds and making suggestions that fit our heart's desire perfectly. After a couple of libations, the appetizer was brought out and our dinner orders put in. Surf and turf for Ben, Porterhouse for Bill, and a build-your-own-masterpiece burger for Annie.

While the restaurant showed that they were overwhelmed on a Friday night (a little messy and slow to clean a table), the service and food was worth it. Brianne is a doll and the Ale House chow rarely disappoints. A great Friday night haunt!

Happy Birthday, Billiam!

It's January. Our group goes out on another wild and crazy night after a grueling few weeks. We find our way to Texas Roadhouse, to celebrate Bill's birthday, with a plan to drink, eat and laugh the night away. Busy as always, we brace ourselves for the 40-minute wait by saddling up to the bar and ordering a round. Ten minutes in and our group is being paged - dining room, here we come!

Raucous and rowdy, we've made a name for ourselves in the local establishments. As we dine, our giggles turn into full on cackling. Our waitress, a firecracker named Britney, counters our quips with one-liners of her own. We're at home, and we love it! A great time had by all, we enjoyed an evening of great company and tasty food. Our steaks were devoured, porkchops savored, and sandwiches enjoyed thoroughly. The service was spectacular and, while loud, the atmosphere enjoyable. If you find yourself in the mood for homemade sauces, well cooked steaks, and great service, stop on by Texas Roadhouse in Ocoee, and ask for the dark-haired Britney. You're rowdy crowd is sure to have a good time!
